Maybe I just don’t like beer.  Tried two of the most popular at the famous Maui Brewing Co. and was underwhelmed.  The food, however, was excellent and the beer did helpfully wash it down.

A variety of beer glasses optimize their flavor, so I’m giving that a go, just having purchased a set.  It works for wine, so why not beer?  I joined a Beer Club, not knowing anything, and after a year, I knew that I didn’t like a single one enough to reorder it.

Okay, a Corona with a slice of lime, works with all Mexican food.

After working in the garden until I drag the shovel back to the house, or after mowing the pasture for an hour and dripping while I clean it, any beer works....

So, in the time honored lesson of I can make my own mistakes why bother having someone else make them for me, I googled the best and ended up with Tavour because it has a really cool app.....no relation to the goal at all, just happened that way.

I’ve got a crate almost ready to ship.....

Do you have a favorite craft beer?

Have you tried this one?

According to Anchorage headbrewer Gabe Fletcher, this is the first-ever true-to-style, American Barleywine they’ve ever released! And this is the only place outside of Alaska to get this hopped-up collector’s item. Plus, it comes in a stackable 16 oz. can — begging to be tucked away in every free nook of your cellar. They call it Chaos, and the aptly-named brew has craft fans freaking out. People are already posting ISOs from here to Rome, offering up some of their best stuff to trade for this piney, citrusy, 11.5% ABV B-wine — Trillium, Treehouse, Other Half, you name it! And we’ve got the only cans to hit the Lower-48! So, while everyone else is clamoring for trades, you hardly have to lift a finger. This monumental brew is yours for the taking, along with all the bragging rights that come with it. Score today’s complex boozer and be among the first in the country to revel in the layers of bittersweet malts and fruity Mosaic, zesty Citra, and dank Vic Secret Hops. Sweet notes of cherry liquor and bold tobacco rise up in the aroma, while a luxuriously rich mouthfeel carries flavors of caramel-covered dark fruit, figs, and notes of pine resin over the palate. Aging in fresh Missouri Oak Foeders imparts each sip of Chaos with unparalleled nuances of toasted vanilla amid a strong woodiness. On the finish, an expert balance of sweet maltiness and piney hops graces the tastebuds. Get a taste of Chaos and give yourself a pat on the back for beating nearly every other craft fan in the country to the punch. And make sure to cellar some for later — the reputation of Anchorage’s first-ever American-style Barleywine will only get sweeter with time! Rated 4.29 on Untappd by early tasters! Packaged On July 26th, 2019 Cellarable LIMIT 12 PER MEMBER. Limited Supply. Requests processed in the order received. Anchorage Brewing Company - Chaos - $14.99 for 1x16oz can Style: American Barleywine, ABV: 11.5%

My beer order arrived today and the puzzled delivery guy said, this is the first house I had for delivery, the rest were all places where people were working. Sweet woman that I am, I explained that a signature was required of the person who placed the order, not just someone over 21. “Such a heavy order.”...then I explained that no matter how much we ordered, it shipped for a flat rate of $14.50 once a month. I had to unpack it where he placed it, until I could lift the box easily. Craft beer is chilling in the fridge, just have to decide which damned glass to use. The Staff NCO Wives Club had Almaden Vineyard educate us about wine and the glass that serves it best. With different glasses in front of us, the same wine at the same temperature was poured. It was amazing how different each tasted. Clear the palate with a cracker and cheese first. I’m just going with the recommendations by the beer companies that developed a glass specifically for their beer. With all the Korean Dramas I watch, I’ve developed a curiosity about KFC and beer......that’s Korean Fried Chicken not Kentucky. We have beer and pizza.....any beer with pizza, works. A Bud Light and fried clams is my favorite, but Bud Light works with everything and by itself. A Corona and slice of lime works with all Mexican food and by itself. So, that’s the frame of reference as my craft beer adventures begin......

I agree with the title Chaos and the clever description.

However, drink it at home because once it kicks in you’re lucky to make it to the couch.  Remember to sit in the middle so three hours later you can just sit up and crash to your other side.

Glad I only ordered one because upon reflection this morning, it tasted like someone poured molasses in my beer.  I like molasses, just not in my ale.  So, there’s an expensive drink others won’t need to fight with me over.

It may be a week before beer or ale sounds good, again.....

Never really got into drinking alcohol, I'm sorry.

Come to the Dark Side. We have cookies. The advantage of insinuations over hard arguments is that they bypass critical thought. No one can respond precisely to a charge that is utterly vague or to accusers who will envelope any reply in a poisonous fog of further insinuations. ~ David Warren, The Guardian There was a time when there was enough freedom that it hardly mattered which brand of crooks ran government. That has not been true for a long time and that captures an important point. The more powerful the government becomes, the more people are willing to do in order to seize the prize, and the more afraid they become when someone else has control. ~ Glenn Harlan Reynolds “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it. Power is what all messiahs really seek: not the chance to serve.” ― H.L. Mencken

Good for you! No need to be sorry. I never did drugs, and I’m not sorry. Why I should take up enjoying alcohol now is a mystery. Oh, I don’t enjoy much of it and only once in awhile with certain meals or snacks, wine really enhances a steak. Dripping from mowing the pasture or weeding the garden, a beer is great, and it really took the edge off a visit from my father-in-law. I am sorry to say that three craft beers into this crate, not one has lived up to the expectations of the written description or tasted anything like one I’d order again. Cognac or Scotch listening to waves break and birds chirp is a recent pleasure that gives me eight hours of sleep when five is my average, but that spirit doesn’t move me often, just every couple of weeks. If I discover a craft beer from this crate worth ordering again, I will post it, but I think I’m too common for craft beer at this point. So, my two beer drinking sons will have to explore them without me. The one who prefers wine is a boxed wine type, and it takes me four days to consume a bottle...definitely passed their best by then. So, I don’t open a bottle often and usually have meals planned to complement it.......
