Trump 41%, Clinton 39%

Monday, May 02, 2016

Last week, Rasmussen Reports gave voters the option of staying home on Election Day if Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the big party nominees, and six percent (6%) said that’s what they intend to do for now. Clinton and Trump were tied with 38% support each; 16% said they would vote for some other candidate, and two percent (2%) were undecided.

But Trump edges slightly ahead if the stay-at-home option is removed. Trump also now does twice as well among Democrats as Clinton does among Republicans.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Trump with 41% support to Clinton’s 39%. Fifteen percent (15%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided............>

Republicans have a massive electoral map problem that has nothing to do with Donald Trump

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/05/02/republicans-have-a-massive-electoral-map-problem-that-has-nothing-to-do-with-donald-trump/?tid=a_inl

And here's the underlying math. If Clinton wins the 19 states (and D.C.) that every Democratic nominee has won from 1992 to 2012, she has 242 electoral votes. Add Florida's 29 and you get 271. Game over.

The Republican map — whether with Trump, Cruz or the ideal Republican nominee (Paul Ryan?) as the standard-bearer — is decidedly less friendly. There are 13 states that have gone for the GOP presidential nominee in each of the last six elections. But they only total 102 electorate votes. That means the eventual nominee has to find, at least, 168 more electoral votes to get to 270. Which is a hell of a lot harder than finding 28 electoral votes........>

I'm just thrilled to have two such high quality candidates from which fewer than a third of Americans will choose our lord and savior.

The next president is going to be a one termer and a failure. Period. An economic crisis of some sort is due, and it's not going to be pretty no matter who is elected. If we're really lucky we'll see some good violence break out in the streets between now and November. Maybe that'll vent the kettle enough to keep the top from blowing off on election night.

I'm working on solar design for my camper, and looking at propane heaters to plumb in that don't require the furnace blower to run. I might be boondocking in November.

Candidates Should Think Twice Before Endorsing Trump or Clinton

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/candidates_should_think_twice_before_endorsing_trump_or_clinton
Thursday, May 05, 2016

Right now as other candidates consider whether to fall in line behind their party’s presumptive standard-bearer, it’s a curse more than a blessing to endorse Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters are less likely to vote for any candidate who endorses Clinton, the likely Democratic presidential nominee. Just 26% are more likely to vote for that candidate, while 32% say a Clinton endorsement would have no impact on their voting decision.............>

The candidates for POTUS turn into POTUS (for the most part), but the voters really have never selected the POTUS. This has always been done in smoke filled back rooms by the party bosses. American voters are basically stupid & have not realized this until the recent news cycle which is 24/7. Walter Cronkite is dead & so are Chet & David.

Kissing Kissinger and other Trump pivots

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-36318446

  • 18 May 2016

................Now, however, all pretence is gone. Mr Trump announced he's hired a veteran money man - a former Goldman Sachs partner, no less - as his national finance chairman. And on Tuesday he reached an agreement with the Republican Party to conduct joint fundraising through a network of committees that can take donations of up to $449,400 (£307,850) per person.

Mr Trump's move is an acknowledgement that he would be hard-pressed to self-finance a general election campaign, which could cost more than $1bn. He's wealthy - but he's not that wealthy............

..........."Obama got the votes much more so than his data processing machine, and I think the same is true with me," he told the Associated Press.

That was before the Trump campaign hired Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, a veteran of the presidential campaigns of Rand Paul, Rick Perry and Bob Dole and a host of other state-level candidates............

........"I watched Hillary the other day, and she has the biggest teleprompters I've ever seen," he said in January. "In fact, if you're sitting on that side of the room or that side of the room you can't see her because when they are outside, they are painted black and you can't even see her."

Then Mr Trump used a Teleprompter to deliver a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in March. And he used one to give a foreign policy address in April...............

............On Wednesday Mr Trump released his much anticipated list of potential Supreme Court nominees. For an unconventional candidate, it was decidedly conventional...............While no one was expecting Mr Trump to suggest Hulk Hogan or Sarah Palin for the high court, his list looks a lot like business as usual for a Republican presidential candidate.

That may be just he way he wants it - but it's also not exactly what his primary campaign was all about.

White House Watch: Trump 42%, Clinton 37%

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/white_house_watch
Thursday, May 19, 2016

Donald Trump has now grown his lead over Hillary Clinton in Rasmussen Reports’ first weekly White House Watch survey.

Trump earns 42% support to Clinton’s 37% when Likely U.S. Voters are asked whom they would vote for if the presidential election were held today. But Rasmussen Reports’ latest national telephone survey finds that 13% prefer some other candidate, while seven percent (7%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

At the beginning of this month, Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, posted a statistically insignificant 41% to 39% lead over Clinton who is still expected to win the Democratic presidential nomination. Fifteen percent (15%) favored someone else, and five percent (5%) were undecided.

Rasmussen Reports will update the Clinton-Trump White House Watch matchup numbers every Thursday morning from now until Election Day in November....................>

All together everyone....

"Madam President Hillary Rodham Clinton"

I think we might be witness to the end of the Republican Party. The Republicans couldn't even take 2nd place in the CA open senate race to replace Barbara Boxer. There will be no Republican on the ballot in November. An Iowa state senator left the party over Trump. There seems to be a fair amount of renewed chatter about Trump being rejected at the convention. There is a lot of people I've heard saying they just won't vote for Trump, yet it seems a similar number would stay home if the Party nominates anyone else. Either way there is a decent chance that Republican turnout could be very low. If that happens they could lose both the House and Senate, and the White House, AND the Supreme Court.

The GOP nominee makes a late attempt at data-driven targeted messaging

Looks like Trump realizes he is not going to win by charm alone;

by Eliana Johnson August 5, 2016

Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/438739/trump-campaigns-data-firm-partner-cambridge-analytica-worked-cruz

The company closely associated with Ted Cruz’s data-centric primary campaign has switched teams: Cambridge Analytica, the London-based outfit that boasts an ability to target voters based on their unconscious psychological biases is now working behind the scenes for Donald Trump. According to a Trump aide, the company has approximately ten data scientists embedded with Giles-Parscale, the San Antonio-based firm behind Trump’s website and his broader digital operation, to which the campaign paid $1.6 million in June alone.

Their presence among a digital team that numbers about 70 people is evidence of a reversal of sorts for a candidate who as recently as May declared data-driven campaigns “overrated.” In the primary, Trump relied almost exclusively on earned media and big rallies to turn out voters.............>

Michael Moore: Trump does not want to be president

It is in the Guardian - it has to be true!

Wednesday 17 August 2016

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/aug/17/michael-moore-donald-trump-does-not-want-to-be-president

Documentary film-maker Michael Moore has said he knows “for a fact” that Donald Trump does not want to be president of the United States and claims the Republican nominee is now sabotaging his own campaign in order to avoid the Oval Office.

Moore, writing on The Huffington Post, says that Trump ran for president as a negotiating tactic, hoping to leverage a higher pay packet from NBC. The broadcaster had formerly employed Trump as the star of the reality TV show The Apprentice, but fired him after he called Mexican immigrants “drug dealers” and “rapists” at his campaign launch.

According to Moore, who does not name his source, Trump continued his campaign only to increase his stock with other television networks..........>

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has toured flood-ravaged areas of the US state of Louisiana, days after heavy rains forced thousands to flee their homes.

The disaster has been compared in scope to Super Storm Sandy, which hit the New York area in 2012.  But critics say the floods near Baton Rouge, which have killed at least 13, have received far less attention.

Mr Trump visited hard-hit East Baton Rouge Parish and met church leaders............>

UKIP's Nigel Farage to speak at Donald Trump rally

Such political balance!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37177938
24 August 2016

.........Mr Trump, in having Mr Farage recount his "Brexit story" to thousands of supporters on Wednesday night, probably hopes the tale of an upstart victory, despite seemingly long odds, will make his side forget about the opinion polls showing him trailing both nationally and in key battleground states.

During a radio interview on Wednesday, Mr Farage said he would tell Mr Trump's audience that the similarities between Brexit and the US election were "uncanny".

True - not only did The Donald spend 49 seconds unloading that truck but instead of donating to help the cleanup he supposedly made a $100,000 donation to an anti-LGBT hate group (of course that group hasn't told us whether or not they ever got the money)
