And Yek ,about your comments in here................I'll be short and will ask you if anybody has ever told you that you make idiotic comments or talk rudely to ppl ............I don't think so and you know why ?cos there's something called respect....you could have said it another way if you truly thought it was out of place...there are so many ways to say things without being rude...... ...

Yes, there are ways. Do you think #79 was respectful to members, Lise? And sure "anybody" has told me I've made idiotic comments and talked rudely. And sometimes they've been right, other times not (in my esteemed opinion...) Sometimes I've been rude and regretted it, others, no afterthoughts.

When someone throws a hissy fit, a cyber tantrum, stamping feet and demanding immediate attention, interrupting an ongoing discussion like this : (copied in part, go to #79 to see in full fulminating, bolded and colored giant font glory):

IS THIS OKAY WITH YOU, JAMES???

I am going to express ire in no uncertain terms.  These splashy intrusions are, once again, rude and inappropriate. Whatever line of thought was being pursued by members exchanging topic related ideas or debating is interrupted. Continuity is utterly lost - anyone trying trying to follow along must wade through endless screensful of bickering to pick up the line of thought.

Compounding this effect, previous replies are copied one onto the other, creating a huge gap between one topic-related post and its response. Almost invariably, when a post such as Nurse's appears, a flock swoops in to join the fray, one protects, two others defend, allies and enemies stake their positions and on and on it goes.

Note that between Nurse's outburst #79, there were 15 goddam posts, excluding my own remark and two brief replies to Nurse's sputtering before the topic resumed.

It's not just members struggling to conduct legit discussion who are affected, but readers who may be trying to follow the debate.

I am sick to death of this crap - it is beyond frustrating, some members in here need to get a grip and subsume their personal dramas in interest of creating a climate where members can hope to talk about ideas rather than be subjected to personal drama constantly.

ok ,I understand that you felt annoyed because the thread was interrupted but still I think that there are ways to say things without calling it idiotic or rude ..Personally I don't think she was insulting anybody on that thread ,just saying what seemed unfair to her.....I don't know why you are so quick at judging others' comments  calling them void ,idiotic or other condescending words from time to time .... this kind of speech reminds me of  university professors from older times who thought that they were smarter or better just cos they could use literary and refined words..It is great to use these words but by  no way makes anybody smarter ....what is  understood well can be explained clearly ,without too many garments anyway ....

You don't seem to get that it is rude to interrupt, Lise.  Only small children believe it is their unassailable right to express themselves in whatever way they please at any time they please, regardless of where they are.  I'm sick of the behavior on here which results in disjointed discussions, and in my opinion, strong terms to convey quality of that sentiment were warranted.

I don't know why you are so quick at judging others' comments  calling them void ,idiotic or other condescending words from time to time ....

Well, I think that I am "quick" to judge others comments is your biased opinion.  You've obviously built up a head of steam, and are making this a personal matter rather than focusing on content of arguments.  There are innumerable instances of incivility on this (and other) boards every single day. Many are vile, sometimes obscene.  My occasional less than civil tone is pretty mild by comparison.  Do other vitriolic outbursts trouble you equally?

There's a difference between an unambiguous personal attack ("You're a bitch") and criticizing in less than delicate terms an opinion about some issue (The conclusion you drew is idiotic).  Political talk is often rough and tumble, kind of a reality of life.  Anyway, I'm sorry you are annoyed by my style - doubt it's going to change, so it will be your own problem to deal with in the future not mine to resolve.

And there comes the atta girl!  Color me surprised.  Who could have seen that coming?:-)

Onward to part 2 of your grievances, which has branched out from a reproach for a specific incident to an evaluation of quality of overall contributions.

this kind of speech  reminds me of  university professors from older times who thought that they were smarter or better just cos they could use literary and refined  words..It is great to use these words but  by   no way makes anybody smarter ....what is  understood  well can be explained clearly ,without too many garments anyway  ....

You are projecting Lise's notions of my self concept (aka mind reading) if you think I believe vocabulary makes me "smarter or better" or that it is used as tool for impressing others with professorial authority.

I select words because they're the right words to convey an exact shade of meaning.  As a rule, context will make it clear what the word means -- Í don't have at my side a thesaurus as someone suggested, the lexicon is all in my head, and I believe like Mark Twain said that one should "use the right word and not its second cousin".  Yam what I yam, Lise - as I just aid, I won't be changing because it annoys you.

I have already posted a reply to you in response to a post of yours on the "Zionist" thread. I included comments in response to your post here as well.

I have a lot to do tonight, so you will be pleased to hear that I am likely signing off for the night, unless I have a little time later.

Have a good evening.

Yek,it is not a personal matter when I tell you that saying to someone that  she makes idiotic comments is rude ........when you say that ,do you think you are polite ?....and I am not comparing your comments to  others     and I agree that your occasional  less than civil  tone is  kinda mild by comparison to others but still it is rude  .... if you had called idiotic one of these vile and obscene comments,I would have understood better but this was not the case, do you know ?

Also ,I don't think interrupting in here can be regarded as rude ,as long as no rude words are said, since the others can ignore the post that is interrupting if they want ,so I don't really understand the reason for you  to be   so " sick to death of that crap "  ...sick to death  of that ?..Today's world really lacks patience I guess...

Anyway  ,and this is for me the conclusion to this talk ,it seems to me  a sign of arrogance and a lack of humility  when you set yourself above the others and judge  their comments or opinions or whatever they have to say as insignificant and worthless ,let's even call it  Idiotic ,compared to yours ...from time to time ,re read some of  your posts and you'll see what i mean.......I don't expect you to change btw ,you are free to say whatever you want and so  are the others ..

I explained that earlier, Lise.

...These splashy intrusions are, once again, rude and inappropriate.

How, Lise is it possible to "ignore" 15 posts between the expression of one idea, and its resumption later?  If you are trying to hold a face to face conversation, and were loudly interrupted between every sentence you uttered don't you think it would affect the quality of your dialogue?

When Nurse stomped her foot loudly for attention, she was well aware of the interpersonal dynamics in here, that her post quite likely would elicit a response.  Her "friends" will see the huge font, the multiple exclamation marks as indication Nurse is agitated, and may need or want support -- her antagonists will see it as provocative, an opportunity to jab, and fly in to take a shot.  And then then we're off to the races again.

It is NOT OK to continually disrupt exchanges in this way.  This group of people, including Nurselady seem to see threads as their personal domains, to commandeer with personal squabbles any time or any place the impulse strikes.

Impatient?  Please.  I am not the only member frustrated unto teeth gnashing by the constant interruptions with this childish nonsense.

I see Nurse has deleted text in original #79, removed evidence of the outburst (the 48 point bolded font) and replaced it with a more decorous, lengthy post outlining her endless grievances with management.  All of this could be done elsewhere, Lise by either contacting managers privately, or at the least taking it to another thread.  Why isn't it

IS THIS OKAY WITH YOU, JAMES???

______________________________________________________________________

This is to Nurse: (You KNOW you're reading this...)

You have also engaged in anti-semitism here and another poster said that she thought that you were either a "Nazi" or a "cretin."

No.  "Another poster" said she thought that if he reviewed the evidence proving the anti-semitic hoax "The Protocols of the learned elders of Zion" and still believed it to be true he'd have to be either a Nazi or a Cretin.  Gunny DID review the evidence, and stated that it was clearly a fiction.  I don't know what the threshold is for deciding someone is "anti-semitic" - it's an arbitrary call, and an abstraction to boot.  But, I don't view Gunny as anti-semite.

"Another poster" does not give a shit what you think of her or how many preachy, banal sentences you produce maligning her.  She does not feel the need to defend against your inventories of her many sins.  If you outright lie, she will probably set you straight though... :-)

Btw - does the above, copied from your pre-edited #79 help you remember your original words?

Always the "libs."
